Fuel stations across Canada are operated by many different companies, each with their own brand, features, conveniences and amenities. But aside from the similarity in the fuels they sell, most stations also share some common design features that help ensure a safe re-fuelling experience for customers.
We’ve incorporated some of these elements in a bird’s eye view of a generic modern fuel station, similar to what you might find in your community. Have a look at the graphic below to see some of the safety design features that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Of course, a safe fuelling experience is also the responsibility of motorists. Some safety practices include: turning your engine off, no smoking at the station, don’t allow children to handle the nozzle, keep children in the car, and inform the attendant of any spill.
