In Canada, Valero Energy Inc. has been a proud partner of United Way for over 20 years. Every year, the vast majority of its some 600 employees mobilize and renew their commitment to this flagship organization.
By subscribing to the source donations program and by taking part in the various fundraising activities that the Volunteer Committee organizes during the annual campaign, Valero employees have demonstrated their unyielding support for the mission of United Way, which deploys and coordinates essential resources to support an extensive network of community organizations in various regions.
The 2020 campaign, of course, has been different, given that most of the regular activities that bring people together could not be held. Nonetheless, many did take part in draws and the virtual auction that brought in close to $505,000. As a result, more than 500 organizations will be receiving significant support, all contributing to the greater good of all society.
Thanks to employees’ contributions which are matched up to 75% by Valero Energy Inc, close to $4 million has been paid out to six of United Way’s regional organizations between 2015 and 2020. “Building communities in which people help one another to contribute to the good life locally is an inspiring vision that Valero fully subscribes to,” said Kunal Saha, VP, Product Supply and Distribution at Valero Energy Inc, who also sits on the board of the Canadian Fuels Association.
